New Pay-As-You-Go accounts require a credit card and advertise a $200 credit valid for 30 days; selected Lite plans remain free only within their service-specific limits. Catalog services use different metering and commitment models. Stopping an eligible VPC virtual server can suspend compute charges, but attached storage and other retained resources continue billing. IBM operates the underlying cloud infrastructure while customers remain responsible for their data, applications, guest operating systems and disaster-recovery design.
