What it is
DataStax, now part of IBM, provides Astra DB Serverless: a managed database service powered by Apache Cassandra for CQL tables and Data API document/vector access. Pricing and billing are transitioning through IBM channels: Free organizations receive monthly credits, Standard can be pay-per-use, prepaid or marketplace based, and Enterprise requires an annual committed credit balance. Reads, writes, vector dimensions, storage, data transfer, private endpoints, multi-region replication and provisioned capacity can be separate meters. Managed Cassandra compatibility is intentionally guarded and does not expose every Cassandra administration tool or setting.

- Where do you get DataStax support now that it is part of IBM?
- Through IBM, and the old routes now forward there. datastax.com redirects to ibm.com/products/datastax, where the product is branded "DataStax, an IBM company", and the former support portal at support.datastax.com — including its /s/ case path — redirects to IBM MySupport (all checked 10 September 2026). Practically this means support tickets, entitlements and account contacts follow IBM's process rather than the standalone DataStax one, and the on-premise and private-cloud line, Hyper-Converged Database, is now delivered as DataStax with IBM watsonx.data Premium edition. Bookmarks and runbooks pointing at the old domain still resolve, but they land in IBM's system.
