Design
Prezi
Online presentation design platform.
What it is
Prezi presents on a zoomable canvas rather than a sequence of slides: content sits on one open surface and you move between frames by panning and zooming. Prezi AI drafts a presentation from a prompt, an outline or an uploaded document, so a first version does not have to be built by hand, and existing PowerPoint decks can be imported instead of rebuilt. Presenter view carries speaker notes, a timer and content cues; paid tiers add viewer analytics showing how long people spend on each frame. Prezi also presents live over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and other conferencing tools, and a desktop app allows working and presenting offline.

Key features
Zoomable canvas
Content is placed on one open, zoomable canvas and navigated by panning and zooming rather than advancing through a linear deck.
AI drafting
Converts a prompt, an outline or an uploaded document into a structured presentation, giving a first draft to edit instead of a blank canvas.
PowerPoint import
Existing slide decks are imported and converted rather than rebuilt, so teams standardised on PowerPoint can move without starting over.
Viewer analytics
Reports which frames resonate and how long viewers spend on each one; available on the higher paid tiers.
Strengths and trade-offs
What works well
- Visually distinctive presentations
- Zooming can express structure well
- Good for non-linear talks
Where it falls short
- Overused zooming makes audiences seasick
- Less suited to dense information
- Subscription required for most features
Who it is for
Presenters whose content has a spatial or hierarchical structure.
Pick it or skip it
Pick Prezi if
- Zooming, non-linear presentations that a slide deck cannot do
- Students and teachers — the EDU Plus plan is $4/month against $19 for the same features
- Trying paid features first: every paid plan has a 14-day trial
Skip it if
- Your deck is confidential — presentations made on the free plan are PUBLIC by default; privacy controls start at the paid tiers
- You need offline use, PDF export or PowerPoint import; those start at Plus ($19/mo annual)
- You want viewer analytics; that is Premium at $29/mo
Our verdict
Effective when the structure genuinely is spatial. Used as decoration it hurts more than helps.
