Google Cloud vs OVHcloud
A source-aware comparison of pricing, documented capabilities and workflow fit.
Short answer
- Price: not directly comparable — Google Cloud is usage-based pricing, OVHcloud is starts with free credits.
- How to start: Google Cloud is usage-based pricing, OVHcloud is starts with free credits.
- Where they differ: only Google Cloud has mobile app and sso (saml); both offer public api.

What Google Cloud is
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) brings the infrastructure Google uses for its own services (Search, YouTube) to businesses worldwide. It is widely considered superior to AWS in AI, machine learning, and Big Data analytics. As the creator of Kubernetes, it leads in container-based management. With Firebase, it prioritizes developer experience while allowing you to query petabytes of data in seconds via BigQuery.
What OVHcloud is
OVHcloud is a proprietary infrastructure provider offering Public Cloud compute, Kubernetes, databases, storage and networking alongside VPS, dedicated servers and hosted private cloud. Public Cloud is normally pay-as-you-go by actual resource usage, with optional monthly or commitment pricing and a promotional trial credit. Instance prices do not automatically include attached storage, backup, extra IPs, load balancers or every regional network charge; resources continue billing until deleted, not merely powered off.

What Google Cloud is built to do
- Google Kubernetes Engine
- The world's most advanced management platform for containerized apps.
- BigQuery
- A serverless data warehouse that analyzes massive datasets with SQL speed.
- Vertex AI
- A unified platform for training and managing generative AI models.
- Cloud Spanner
- A globally consistent and scalable relational database for critical apps.
What OVHcloud is built to do
- Public Cloud compute
- Provides hourly or monthly virtual and metal instances across workload-oriented families.
- Storage and backup
- Offers block and object storage, images, snapshots and separately metered instance backup.
- Cloud networking
- Includes private networks with optional floating IPs, gateways and load balancers.
- Managed platforms
- Adds Kubernetes and data services whose control planes and dependent resources have separate terms.
Choose Google Cloud if
- Data Scientists, Mobile Developers, and AI Companies.
Choose OVHcloud if
- VM, bare-metal and storage workloads whose required services exist in the chosen region
- Teams wanting OpenStack-style automation and comparatively simple network pricing
- European deployment strategies after contractual residency and support review
Skip OVHcloud if
- The workload assumes identical products, prices or traffic rules in every region
- The team cannot patch systems, design redundancy, monitor spend and rehearse recovery
- A compute headline price is being treated as the complete production architecture cost

Google Cloud: pros & cons
- Data Analytics Leader: Unrivaled processing power with tools like BigQuery.
- AI/ML Oriented: Deep integration with Google's advanced AI models (Gemini, Vertex AI).
- Firebase Ecosystem: The best backend solution for mobile app developers.
- Sustainability: The most eco-friendly cloud with carbon-neutral data centers.
- Market Share: Has a smaller enterprise support network compared to AWS and Azure.
- Naming: Google's service names and UI can occasionally be confusing to newcomers.
- Regional Support: Not all services are active in all regions simultaneously.
OVHcloud: pros & cons
- Broad infrastructure choice: Virtual instances, bare metal, containers, storage, networking and managed data products share one catalog.
- Published metering: Hourly and monthly compute, storage, IP and network line items are documented by location.
- Included traffic in many regions: Public instance egress is included outside the documented Asia-Pacific exception.
- Automation surface: OpenStack-compatible APIs, CLI and infrastructure-as-code tooling support repeatable provisioning.
- Total cost has multiple parts: Volumes, snapshots, backups, IPs, gateways, load balancers, licenses and managed services bill separately.
- Deletion controls spend: A stopped Public Cloud instance remains chargeable until it is deleted.
- Regional differences: Product availability, prices and outbound-traffic treatment vary by location and contracting entity.
- Customer operations remain substantial: VM patching, identity, application availability, backups and recovery require explicit ownership.
Our verdict on Google Cloud
The smartest cloud infrastructure for modern, data-and-AI-driven projects.
Our verdict on OVHcloud
OVHcloud is credible for cost-conscious infrastructure and European deployments, but select an exact product and region; model every attached resource, automate deletion and budgets, and prove multi-zone availability plus off-system restoration before production.
