Raycast
Keyboard launcher and command palette for macOS.
What it is
Raycast is a macOS launcher that replaces Spotlight and runs extensions, snippets, clipboard history and scripts from one keyboard shortcut. The extension store is what separates it from a plain launcher: issue trackers, cloud consoles and internal scripts all answer from the same prompt, so routine lookups never require opening the application that owns them. Extensions are written in React and TypeScript, which makes internal tooling straightforward for a development team to add.

Pick it or skip it
Pick Raycast if
- Personal use at no cost — every built-in extension is in the free tier
- Teams that want shared snippets and quicklinks free: Teams Free has no seat minimum
- Buyers comparing AI launchers: Pro is $8/month billed yearly
Skip it if
- You want AI, cloud sync or custom themes — those are Pro, not free
- You take notes in it: the free tier caps at 5 Raycast Notes
- You want the most advanced AI models; that is a further $8/month on top of Pro
Our verdict
