AI Tools tools in 2026, compared by price

We track 35 ai tools tools. The list below is ordered by what it costs to start, cheapest first. Tools that cannot be put on that scale — usage-based pricing, a free tier, or a price we could not verify — come last, and each one says which case it is. The cheapest verified entry point is Chroma at Free.

How to choose an AI tool

AI tools share one habit: the headline price rarely covers the metered part. Chat assistants charge per seat but meter the advanced models; image and video generators sell credits; API platforms bill by token. Any of these can start small and grow quickly once real usage arrives.

So treat a verified starting price as the entry ticket, not the monthly total. Check what the free tier throttles — model quality, message caps, watermarks and export limits are the usual levers — and how usage is measured if the plan is credit-based. Data handling deserves an explicit decision too: retention settings and whether your inputs train anything should be choices you make, not defaults you inherit.
